PRT Apple Orchard Project

Location - Western Nuristan
IFHope implemented an apple orchard project in western Nuristan Province. IFHope provided apple saplings from its nursery stock, arranged for the purchase of 2,500 additional apple saplings from a nursery in Laghman Province, conducted a site survey, provided direction and assisted local farmers in orchard design and planting, arrange for the purchase and delivery of required fertilizer and other inputs and provided training in orchard management to local farmers.
The Jalalabad PRT provided initial coordination with district officials to arrange for the selection of a suitable site and for local labor to maintain the orchard after planting. Subsequent to the formation of a PRT in Laghman Province, the Laghman PRT will assume any coordinating functions.
